Come get involved in this newly forming group! We'll be meeting the 3rd Monday of the month starting January 18th at 7pm at The Root. Feel free to come to all or just one meeting.
Open to adults and mature readers interested in discussing ways that power and privilege impact us both personally and in our various communities. Books, specifically contemporary literary fiction and memoir, provide readers with lenses through which to see the world through experiences which may be very different from our own. In this reading group we will use the shared experience of literary works to open generative critical dialog about power and privilege as they impact our individual lives and our many communities.
Our first book will be Americanah, "A powerful, tender story of race and identity by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the award-winning author of Half of a Yellow Sun." Copies of Americanah can be purchased through Everyone's Books. Or, visit your local library!
